Facet 58 has been a special
place for me and my horses. I found a place where I know that if I can't
make it out to my horse, she is being cared for. But equally important,
I also found a place where I have made friendships that really make
a difference in my life.
When I was laid up for months following surgery for breast cancer a
couple years ago, I wasn't sure if I would ever be able to ride again.
Tovah and Rich came to visit and my fellow boarders called to check
in on me. Then when I was well enough to get out and about, I would
go to the barn and just hang out with everybody. Tovah even let me groom
her pony, Bam Bam, when I didn't have a horse of my own. Bam Bam would
stand still and let me brush him (which helped my arms regain some strength)
and he seemed to understand what I had been through. I think it was
that connection that helped me recover and when I was ready to ride,
there was no pressure to perform. I just rode at my own pace and felt
supported by the other riders.
My experiences at Facet 58 have not only made me a more knowledgeable
horse owner, they have helped me become a better person. Tovah and Richie
and the Facet 58 family have all been a huge part of my recovery. I
have to admit that out of all the places I may go during the week, my
best times are the times spent at the barn.
